You have started an interesting thread on sharing a golf cart, how about renting TT. Are there any recommendations out there? DH not to thrilled about renting one to tow himself again after our experience with our pop-up in December :sad1: . I think the only way to try to sway him again would be to surprise him witha rented TT on our next trip so he sees how great it could be. I am keeping my fingers crossed for reservations in October. I can call tomorrow. I really don't mind the tent camping thing but with 7 of us we need the 2 tents. I was so looking forward to our pop-up. I would rent a pop-up. Just has to be in FL so we don't have to tow the whole 500+ miles with it. Better yet have it brought to FW for us.

Not sure if the link in the prior messages worked for you, was missing the "www" part. The link is to a website for people who live nearby and have started to rent their fifth wheel TT for use at the fort. They deliver, set it up, provide all the essentials like bedding, pots, pans, and make the rental much easier for people. The TT looks fantastic.

I'll try posting the correct link (new at this, so not sure if it will work).

That looks like a great idea. But I must admit, I don't want any strangers staying in my TT. If I lived near the Fort, I would seriously consider buying a TT just for renting it out, though.

Hey...wait a minute there! Are you calling me strange?:confused3 Hmmm..I prefer to think of myself as "unique".;) My husband and I will be using Tina's unit in August and she has nothing to fear from us "strange" people.;) In fact, my kids think I have a "slight" issue with cleanliness.:rolleyes1 Just because I like the shoes to face the same way when they take them off and enter the house, or because the dishes need to face the same way when loaded in the dishwasher, or because the lines made in the carpet from the vacuum cleaner should all go in the same direction? I mean come on..everyone has these concerns! A household should function like a well oiled machine(as long as there is NO spillage of the oil..on the carpet, floors, driveway, or wherever. Oil is messy...don't get me started! Another thing..any smart a**kid who thinks just because they happen to take two semesters of psychology (that I paid for by the way:sad2: ) that I have some OCD issues, maybe it's THEY who need to have THEIR heads examined. If it's true..too bad..it's my OCD and I happen to like it very much, thank you, works for me and has been keeping them in clean underwear for the last 20 years. They can take their messy, wrinkly, selves and go live somewhere else!:woohoo: O

Okay..maybe too much info there..but you get my point. I think Tina pretty much rents to people on this board,:thumbsup2 (from what I've seen you look like a pretty clean bunch..although there will be teeth and nail inspection at a later date) and we would have to "face" her so to speak again. Be it virtually or in person. Also renting a TT or 5th wheel probably isn't going to be any different than renting a hotel room where BILLIONS of people have laid their dirty, smelly, needed deodorant and a shower two days ago bodies. :scared1: Never mind..maybe Tina does have something to worry about. (but it won't be from me!:cutie: )

You should definetly give Tina's a call. Or check out her site. We will be using it in August, and I believe there are several people from this forum who have rented or will be renting from her. I look forward to reading their reviews. We also have a tt, but don't want to tow it to Fla. This is a good option for us, as we wanted to stay in the camping loops of FW. The good thing about her rental is that you don't have to bring ANYTHING. It comes with linens, cooking utensil, everything you would need. Some of the local or national chains you have to supply those items yourself. She and her husband place it on site for you..they set up your awning, and hook up your sewer and water. Seems pretty complete. Also it's a 5th wheel with a great layout for accomodating families. There are photos of the unit on her web site, so you will know exactly what it is your renting. We are looking forward to our August trip!

I just finally look at Tina's website and agree it's great and a fantastic opportunity and very affordable and cost effective for what she is providing. I hope she makes a million plus on this and hope those taking advantage of her great offer leaves things as clean as they found it. As already mentioned this little endeavour could become a full time profitable business. If I lived closer, I could get into doing something like this since it could provide a day or two extra short trips to the FW for setup and teardown with the proper coordination and adjustment of rental fees. You reserve the site for your stay plus 4 ... 2 days each side and I take off those fees when you're not there and we are :thumbsup2

Yep....it sound like a great way to pay for both a TT note and nice little getaway every couple of weeks!! Might be worth a guy packing up and moving to central FL......hmmmmm.

Yea, we're in that mode now since NoVa is really no place for retirees and house is paid for, no bills and no real income issues except buying another home while keeping the current one till it sells in this depressed market.

I think and hope Tina has hit upon a great opportunity to offer and provide a service that many will like and make a good profit and really wish her the best and have my fingers crossed that all this works out to the good for her.

Maybe I should move there and along with her go into the GC rental business ... a TT and GC at your site when you arrive all for under $160 or so a day ... now there is a package :goodvibes

You KNOW this would be a huge success........it would be SO successfull....Im sure you'd need more that ONE cart because demand would be so high!!!

I have actually looked into it locally, since there are no rentals around here. Again DH just gets in my way of fun. Should be able to pay one off in a short period of time. Then start planning on the next one, :teacher: , build the fleet.

I'm dreaming:cloud9:

Hi auntie,

I *love* your parenting style and my husband would :worship: your intrinsic cleanliness, but I'm starting to get really worried now! We're renting Tina's RV from August 8th-17th...are you the ones right after us on the schedule? I'm not a natural Susie Homemaker, and I don't want to show up in your trip report as "that messy family that had Tina's RV before us."

Aaack...I guess I'd better start boning up on my cleaning skills now! :scared1:

(And I'm getting a kick out of you "using Tina's unit"...there's just no good way to say this stuff, is there?)

Sue in Texas
...Though I do really enjoy the smell of Clorox bleach!

Oh my gosh..yep that is me...right after you in August! Ha! I have you worried do I?:lmao: No need..I'm not really THAT bad! At least I don't think so. :rolleyes1 You have nothing to worry about..please..I really don't want you to concern yourself one bit about it. I am much more relaxed on vacation..I dom't even plan on packing my white gloves for inspections.;)

Oh..yikes..the "unit" thing again:blush: ..I'm so ...dopey...I forgot all about that..I keep saying it. Tina probably cringes every time she's see's that I've responded to a post regarding renting a TT. Lay out..no. .that doesn't sound good either...? Floor plan..floor plan...does that have another meaning also?...I should just be quiet now.:cutie:

My mother suffered severe cleaning obsessive compulsions and it drove me nuts as a kid.....but, MAN..........I sure do miss living in a home as clean as she kept it!!!! I was hoping that maybe it would pass through the bloodline and my kids would inherit it...but they are obsessed with making the hugest mess they can and and instead of being compulsive, they are repulsive!!!

Actually, I think Tina has a great sense of humor and will get quite a kick out of this. She should be at FW right now! I'm glad she still gets to use her own 5th wheel now and then, besides "concierging" it for us. (Somehow that sounded better than the other words I could think of!)

Shucks, I was going to tell my kids that the next lady in the RV was going to do tooth and nail inspections on them before we leave! My MIL will be camping next door to us, so that will probably keep me on my best behavior before you get there, so you try not to worry, too. We ain't quite the Clampetts and nobodys got nothin' communicable I knows of!

It's kind of neat to know that you're right after us. I may have to leave you a little something (nice!) when we go! Are you in a preferred site, pets/no pets, and do you have a loop preference? Tina might not even have to move her unit! (Yes, that one was on purpose!)

I just played "Camping Board PI" (looked you up on the pet thread) and saw this:

So, that's my story, one dog that pukes , one cat with one eye. That's us...

I got a big kick out of that! We used to have a one-eyed dog and a cat that puked. We lost them both a few years back at age 16 (their age), but still remember them fondly.

If you need a pet loop, Tina's going to have to move the trailer, unfortunately. My dogs are going to the local doggy spa instead of FW, and there's no way my FIL is going to camp near doggy doo doo! :lmao:

Sue in Texas

NO PETS! I love my pets...little one eyed "ojo":lovestruc and Toby the underwear eating dog(see..if my daughter picked up her underwear..the dog wouldn't have this reputation!) however, they will NOT be joining us. Imagine..me with the dog that gets car sick. No thanks. In fact, it looks like it may be just my husband and myself for this trip. My kids are fans of the WL..my daughter is strictly a "hotel" person. My younger son is actually going to Greece with his best friends family this summer. My husband and I are hoping to take some time for ourselves. Staying in FW is something we've always wanted to do, but didm't want to tow our tt down to Fl. Tina's "unit" is a perfect compromise for us. I get to stay in FW..and he doesn't have to tow 21 hours. :thumbsup2

We also requested a preferred NO pet loop. I was thinking of requesting the 600 loop, as we took photos of sites we liked when we biked through last year during our stay at the WL. Tina had mentioned that her husband thought there were a couple of really nice spacious sites in that loop, and we actually had a photo of 620..and I believe he told her that was a good one. Looks spacious. I'm thinking of requesting that loop..and number..but also thought the 200 loops was an option..being that it would be close to the marina area. It would be nice if Tina didn't have to move the "trailer"..seee..I said "trailer"..:rotfl2: I will try to post a picture of the sites in the 600 loop tomorrow if you'd like to see it.:thumbsup2 I think it's pretty centrally located.

OT but related...
Oh I wish I could be my old neat freak self again. After the quads were born my priorities changed and unfortunately the the neatness went to pot. The house is clean just stuff everywhere. Pass some of your pixie dust my way could you? The kids make it impossible to get rid of stuff. As a matter of fact, cleaning my oldest room yesterday we had to cry and morn for the barbie with the broken leg, that is not fixable, before mommy could place said barbie in the trash bag...ugh:rolleyes:
