Renting a scooter at Disney World question

My mom might need a scooter for the week we stay on property next month. It will be hit and miss, depending on how her ankle and knees feel. Does anyone have a reliable resource for renting them off site and the deliver to the hotel? That way she can use it as she sees fit. I want to see if that would be cheaper than renting them daily from the parks.

Also, do the transportation busses take the scooters or do you have to wait for a specific bus?

Any information at all would be appreciated.

Cathy

My mom uses Scooterbug. Has only had a problem once with a ECV that didn't seem to have a lasting charge and they brought a new one asap. All regular Disney buses can carry them. By regular I mean I don't know about the charter type bus I was once on. If there are already 2 lined up for a bus or a lot of people, you may have to wait for the next bus.

We have rented scooters several times for my DH and had good experiences with a couple different companies that deliver (and service if needed) ECVs at Disney.

You will find lots of information on this topic in the disABILITIES! forum here on the DIS using this link.

It's about a 99% chance that all public operated buses have accessibility available. The bigger, much more expensive buses have them as well, but, much better hidden. However, they are there.

Well, I know for 100% certainty that the last time the band when to Florida in 2014, we had the newswest charter buses and there was no way for a student to take his chair onboard. They had to carry him to a seat and break down and put chair underneath in cargo. When we would get somewhere, they would unload and put chair together and then he'd have to be carried to chair.

Well, that might just cover the 1% that I mentioned. It also might have been broken at the time, but, like I said, almost all currently operating buses built after a certain time and destined for public use, will have wheelchair accessibility. If they weren't told ahead of time that there would be a need, which would be a probably assumption since it was a band, they might have accidentally sent one of the few buses that don't have that feature.

Smaller shuttle buses, like the ones that I drive at the airport do not have access either. However, we do have some that do and they are put in service as the need arises.
