Renting a really nice RV vs. Renting a FW Cabin

We have never been to FW and have 2 cabins rented for a week this winter. We're bringing gobs and gobs of family so hopefully we'll be side by side or closeby. I got to wondering how the cabins would differ from a really nice RV. I went to a local RV place and they say they'll deliver and set it all up. We've never stayed in an RV. But I like the idea...if not for this trip, maybe another one soon.

The only thing that caused me pause was this statement on one RV rental website: Due to the complexity of operation & safety concerns, we strongly recommend that you don’t use the oven in our rentals. Whaaat? How do you go a week and not use the oven??

Can anyone list some pros and cons for this? I guess with the cabins there is mousekeeping. It appears RV sites can do FP+ so that's good. I'd love to hear yall's opinions. Thanks!

They have stopped putting them in RV, at least the dealer I was at..
I noticed it and asked them why none of their RV had a oven.
I was told that many people were using them to heat RV.
I don't know if that is true or not but that is what I was told by Winnebago dealer..
We don't have one in our RV so I brought one that we can use outside the RV.. Also was told if we wanted an oven they could order one and put it in our RV... So who really knows???

We love the cabins and enjoyed staying at them before we brought our RV...
I think the biggest thing is, I'm sure you will save money by RV rental.. Last time I price cabin it was $465 a night, that's why we brought an RV...

Gobs and gobs of family in only 2 cabins? They only sleep up to 6 ea. Depending on how many 'gobs' there are, you may need to make additional arrangements!

As for the ovens in RV's. It's true that they are making more and more RV's without ovens - or rather replacing them with convection ovens. I guess some people have not been too careful with their usage. They are definitely not to be used as a heater option.

As for renting RV's for several people, by the time you'd rent your site, plus pay the RV rental for large units, expect it would not be too far from the same amount of $$'s as the cabin cost at value time. The cabins would have more room.

Since you are coming with family, I'd stick with the cabins this trip. It's more likely they can keep your group close together. There are some campground loops that back up to cabins, but I think that would be harder to coordinate.

As for the ovens, I haven't heard the story about heating the RV. All my campers have had furnaces that did a pretty good job. I used to be fairly closely connected with my RV manufacturer. Most people don't really use the oven. Too small and really heats up the trailer. I've only used mine, maybe, twice. The combo convection oven/microwaves have become fairly cheap and only take up the space of the microwave. This frees up the valuable space the oven occupies for more cabinets/storage that people really want.

I'm very curious, since I've never stayed in an RV. Will definitely keep the cabins and consider a RV for later. As far as gobs...we'll have my DH, DS, DD, son's gal, SIL, DD, GS9, GS7, GS6 and a newborn. We'll be spread out, but my DS and his gal and also my DD will only be there for the weekend. So excited to visited FW for the first time!

Convection microwave ovens, the fact that cooking in a propane oven is tricky and the need for storage space has lead to the disappearance of the propane oven.

A cabin vacation would be much more relaxing IMO.

No, it doesn't take a genius, but it does require 'common sense', which is sorely lacking in some people.

Would you believe that every year we have people dying right here because during power outages during winter, or hurricanes, they use their generators in the garage or INSIDE the house! The officials constantly remind people, 'don't do it' and STILL some will!!

We, too, have used propane ovens for many years in our RV's, but now have convection in our MH which we love.

But, contrary to what some like, if we did not own our RV, and wanted to stay at the Fort, we would definitely rent a cabin over a rental RV.

A friendly heads up. We've found the beds to be shrinking over the years. They are bunks, a full, and a Murphy. In our 20s that was fine. In our 40s it's now an issue! Our teens get the bunks, but Mr. FFerret and I can no longer share, and the couch is not an option. At the prices you pay for the Cabins, Disney should pony up, join the waistline shrinking 21st century, and put queens in

Geez Louise. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how to use a propane oven. We are on our second camper and I have used the oven in both of them. Just like I wouldn't use my home oven as a heat source, I wouldn't use my camper oven as a heat source. Don't understand why you would need to as most campers have a propane heater installed. The only complaint I have about my propane oven is that sometimes it takes longer to cook something than my regular oven does.

We have been RV'ers for years. We travel a lot for my husbands work, and someday dream of going back to it full time after the kids are on their own. One is in college and one is a Senior in HS this year, so I hope it is in the near future!

We find the opposite reaction in using the oven. It heats up the RV when you are in warm climates. We use our BBQ or Traeger for pretty much everything we can. It's part of the fun of RV'ing for us. The RV ovens are too small and heat up the place.

We are in our fourth MH and all have had ovens. We haven't used them very often, but never hesitated to use them when we wanted biscuits or the like. We never heated the MH with an oven, so put me in the slightly smarter class. Our newer MH has both a propane and a convection/microwave oven. Haven't used the C/M oven yet, but it doesn't look to be too hard. We have used the propane oven as a bread storage location (with the gas off), and that has been ok, except in the summer when mold seems to grow more quickly.
