Renting a Lens for Disney

I have a Canon Rebel XT with the kit lens and the "nifty fifty". I would like to rent a good quality lens with more range than the kit lens for our upcoming disney trip. I figure that by renting I will be able to get a better quality lens than I would be able to afford to purchase.

1. Can you recommend a company to rent from? Preferably one where you can reserve a specific lens in advance.

2. Can you recommend a lens to fit the bill?

It all depends on how long you are planning on renting the lens (lets say that you need two weeks)
I have not seen any that really allow you to reserve a lens, they make money with the lens out, so they are normally first come first serve.
Say you want the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS or the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, they are each about 46-47 on http://www.rentlens.com and about the same at http://www.rentglass.com.
You can get a lens like the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS at BHphoto for $170, which would be less than half the cost of the other lens, but yeah, not technically as good, but it will probably fine.

Check with your local full service photo shop if you have one. There is one in my area. You have to pay when you book the rental. The cost can be from $20 per day to $150 for the week depending on what you want. Those are the prevailing rates in NC.

The OP makes a good comment. Unless you really want a super fast or long or short lens, a good quality consumer lens could satisfy your needs. What exactly do you want to accomplish with this lens.

I would need a week rental and I was looking at the Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD, or the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OS. Something like the "L" lens I know I can't afford to purchase.

Will purchasing the inexpensive Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8-4 DG AF be good enough for a novice who just wants some nice pics of her family enjoying Disney World?
