We, 4 adults and 2 kids, are going for a week (april 9th to 16th). We have two offers on the table for renting a house.

Both:
- are gated communities
- have a clubhouse with pool and gym
- have a pool in the back
- have two living areas (Family room and lounge)
- have a dining table and a breakfast nook
- have a king and a queen master with two other twin rooms
- are about the same distance (I think) to Disney

The price difference is $20 when pool heat is included and $90 when it is not.
Since it is the second week in April I don't know that we will need pool heat.

One is in Lake Berkley (behind Wal mart on 192), the other is in Glenbrook (one mile north on US27 from 192).

Which would you choose and why?
Thank for any help.

I shop at the Walmart there and I can tell you that the trafffic on 192 is a nightmare! They have been doing construction there for about 5 years and I would avoid it if you can. I don't mind tackling once during my holiday but if I had to fight that for one week ~ I would go out of mind!

Definately the one on 27. The traffic is horrible by Wal-Mart, and I am not very fond of that area. I think the one on 27 will be much better. There may be some traffic on when you first get onto 192 heading towards 27, but it usually isn't too bad. Also there are better restaurant choices on that side of 192 and I think that area is just a bit nicer all around.

Also I forgot to mention, but there are backroads you can take to Disney from 192 by 27. I can't remember the exact name of the road, but it takes you directly to Animal Kingdom, or you can hop on the Osceola Parkway. Kind of a nice thing to know. If you want, I can find the exact name of the road for you.

Jocelyn

Ok I found the name of the road: Sherberth. This connects with Osceola Pkwy and puts you on Disney property without having to take the main roads. Also a great way to get out of parks at the end of the night!!

PM me if I can help you further!!

As someone who lives near that area, I would recommend the one on US27. Hands down.

The area is WAY better than the Walmart end of 192.

One thing to note, US27, south of 192 can be pretty dangerous. Nothing to be too worried about, just be on your guard. It is a highway that people need to turn across and enter from many subdivisions.

I agree, the Sherberth/Black Lake "shortcut" is really good. Also, there is Griffin Road, which cuts from 192 to Disney property as well. Sherberth would be easiest, though.

Another vote for the 27 from a home owner there I agree the bend for the west 192 onto the 27 can be nasty if taken quickly As far as shopping goes - don't forget there is now a Wal Mart on the 27 not far from Glenbrook on the 27 just North of the junction with the 192

I didn't mean the actual interchange, I meant, US27 past the 192 interchange can be dangerous. The Polo Park area has several accidents a week.

That said, the interchange itself can be tricky. The first time I drove from 192 to 27 south, I almost drove off the road! :)

Rented several houses in the area for Disney vacations, yeah, totally stay away from the Wal Mart area.

27 is pretty, easy to get to Disney, not super close like Rolling Hills or Windsor Palms but not too bad.

Next time ask how close it is to Splendid China, houses in that area are literally across the street from Disney.

Definitely get the pool heat, the air will be hot but sometimes the pool will not! Better to think, aw, we didn't need the heat rather than to go, dang, can't use the pool, it's freezing!

Isla Bonita here on the web just got a new house near Disney. Why don't you email her and see what she says. It is a 6 bedroom, I believe.

Thank you so much for all your help. I have decided to stay at Glenbrook. As for the short cut Jocelyn, I will be PMing you for the details. :smooth:

We are going the same week. We rented in the Sunset lakes Subdivision just off of Lindfields. Is this a good area?

thanks

We are also renting a house the week of 4/9-16. The location boasts-"closest to WDW". The property is north of 192 between 417 and 535. Is this near Wal-Mart? Will I be able to avoid 192 and hop onto Osceola Pky?
Thanks for any help. :earsboy:

What is the name of the property? It sounds like it could be near the Buena Vista outlet mall. The Holiday Inn Sunspree, Bryan's Spanish Cove and others are up that way. The Walmart on 192 would be about 10 minutes from there. There is also a SuperWalmart on John Young Parkway near SandLake Road. If I have the right area you are about the same distance to either Walmart.

It's called AAADreamHomes. We got a great deal, hope it's worth it. I just want a nice trip to/from WDW. Also, if you know where this is...any restaurant suggestions?

We've rented a home in Hampton Lakes up 27. It was about a 20 minutes drive everyday, but not too bad.

We're going 4/12-4/20 and we're renting again too. Started off as a condo, but you know I've invited my parents, my sister and her family, now last night my aunt and uncle that I adore. So I'm going to have to start my search over and look for a pool home. I think we'll need the space if they all take me up on my offer, which it sounds like they may. However, I really want to be in Windsor Palms, Emerald Island, one of those that are really close this time.
