I was just wondering, what is everyone's opinion on renting a car.
I will be going down to Disneyland for 7 days with a family of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids) and we are wanting to do a day excursion to Universal Studios, Seaworld(San Diego) and also wanting to do a Pirate Adventure dinner.
Would you recommend we rent a car or should be just pay for the grayline tours that would take us to these destinations?

We have always rented a car because of the fact that we like the freedom to do what we want. When you get those tours you are usually commited to a certain time and when you have younger kids they do not always fit their schedual. Driving around the LA/Orange county area is pretty simple you just need a little paitents. We have always rented from Enterprise where you get picked up at the airport in a shuttle and with in 15 minutes we are on our way to Disenyland. The same goes for dropping off the car. We just drive up unload, hand over the keys and get on the shuttle back to the airport.

I always rent a car in Orlando for the same reason... Waiting for the buses can be tough with little ones.. plus sometimes it is really crowded and I hate dealing with that... I always rent... it maybe an extra expense, but I can go where I want when I want :)

I would say, like the others, you would definitely want to rent a car. Seven days is a lot of time in Disneyland. Disneyland is tiny compared to DisneyWorld. You're probably going to want to be able to do other things.

San Diego is almost a 2 hours drive from Disneyland. That's a long time on a bus.
