renting a car near universal

I was thinking of staying our first two days at universal hotel and then renting a car to travel down to disney for our last 5 days.

Is there a location to rent a vehicle close to universal or must someone in our party travel back to the airport to rent a vehicle?

A few questions first...

1) How are you getting to Universal?
2) How are you getting back to the airport when the vacation is over?
3) Are you staying on-property at Disney?


My thoughts, depending on your answers are:
If you are taking a car service or van to Universal, I would have them do your transfer to Disney as well.

Universal has car rental on property (Hertz?) but not sure how they are about not returning the car to their offices.

Are you staying onsite at Universal? And will you need the car for your Disney trip, or just to get to your Disney hotel?

If you don't need the car during your Disney stay, it might be cheaper to use a car service or shuttle for just the one trip.

If you do need it at Disney, there is a Hertz desk in each of the three onsite Universal hotels. Using their online reservation system, it looks like you can reserve to pick up the car there and return it to a different location (ie. MCO).

I was thinking of staying on property at universal. With using the first two days at universal we would not need a vehicle.

We would stay at animal kingdom and the last time we stayed at disney the bus system was not something we want to do again. Plus we like to leave and go off disney at night.

As for getting to and from universal, I was thinking of using mears for all of us to universal and then if they have a rental car company close rent a car to drive to disney.

Any suggestions?

car rental on site at uo hotel.
also one down the street from uo.

you could rent the car the day you plan to leave the darkside for the motherland stay.
you would not have any parking fees that way at the hotel.


are you talking about the mears shuttle?
it could be that the cost per person would be greater than using car service in going to uo.
