We are thinking about renting a car (minivan, really) for our next trip to WDW in June.

We need a vehicle that will fit 7 people (3 kids) and luggage. We arrive on a Saturday and fly back on a Sunday, so it would be for 9 days.

Where would you look for decent rental rates? We have an Entertainment coupon book--do they offer good deals? And just how much tax does Florida charge on car rentals?

Hi

go to mousesavers.com for info on codes and renting a car at MCO. Your best bet for a minivan is with dollar or natoinal onsite at the airport. There is a code for Dollar for $l99. week for chrysler miniivan. Your taxes and fees are goona run an extra $50-60. for a week. There is a discount with the entertainment book for National and Avis. You go to their websites and plug in the coupon and code #'s from the ent. book.

Be aware that you will be charged a day rate for each 24 period over 7 days and the day rate for a minivan will be pricey.

Hi Jersey Janice! I'm Jersey Norma...:) I'll be in WDW May 8-13 with two of my DDs and 3 of my DGDs. We're renting a mini van from Dollar which is located right at the airport. Keep checking http://www.mousesavers.com/groundtrans.html for great prices and the necessary codes. I started out booking at nearly $250 (+ all those ridiculous taxes and add ons) but kept checking back and now I'm down to $199. I've used offsite car rentals before, but they are SOOO inconvenient. And besides, Dollar almost always has the best prices.

Whatever company you pick, make sure you stay away from any whose counter is not at walking distance from the gates. Although many will tell you they are "inside" the airport, you have to catch a shuttle adding hours in lines before you can drive out of there otherwise.

L&M guarantees the lowest rates in the Airport. I got a great rate of $125 for mid-size (taxes though pushed it to $181.70). However with points (Air Miles rewards program) have decided to go for the inconvenience and use Alamo ($15 taxes is all I'm paying).

May want to check any rewards program you have.....

I booked Dollar for ~$122/week and ~$22/extra day with code fvg. The lowest anywhere (taxes and fees included), and their counter is inside the airport!

The offer was far better than any other I checked, I am still getting Delta Skymiles rewards and they are a walk from the gate! After booking with Alamo years ago and being told they were inside the airport, I resented the fact that I was not informed about having to take a shuttle and stand in a check in counter, adding 1 1/2 hrs before I was able to drive off. I never booked with them again.

Dollar's Fastlane even beats National's Emerald Club's, where the privileges only apply to certain size and class vehicles and you do not always get your DC discounts. Fastlane gives you the same express check in/out benefits FOR FREE, regardless of what you choose, and... They are even :bounce: inside :bounce: the :bounce: airport!!! :bounce:

Hi, with the code fvg do have to be a member of something? If you book with this code when you pock up the car is there something you have to use or give them to get that rate? thanks.

You don't have to worry about having any sort of coupon or giving them anything. The fvg code is from an ad in the Florida Vacation Guide.

That code is available for everyone, but I also advice you to get the membership in Fastlane. It is free, open to everyone, you can apply online and gets you out of the airport quickly. It is a nice convenience.

Thanks for all of the info . I am trying to get fastlane like you mentioned. It ask for business name and phone. I do not have a business. What is that about. Please help. Thank corvair

I am not sure about what you do, you probably could put your residential information or leave it blank. They could give you further instructions.

But by all means, get Fastlane! Good luck
