Renting a Car at the Doubletree

I'm staying with my family of six and we're going for a week. For the first four days of our trip, we are staying at the Doubletree near Downtown Disney. For the last three days, we are staying at Beach Club. Do you think renting a car is worth it when we're staying at Doubletree? Are the DD shuttles quick? We have an impatient four-year-old in our group.
