DH and I will be at WDW on our anniversary. I have looked into the Illuminations and Fantasy in the Sky cruise and it seems like fun, but a little more than I want to spend.

Could we just rent a boat at one of the resorts and time it for the fireworks? We really dont need all the extras that come with the official cruises, but think being out on the water during the fireworks would be romantic. Would this work?

Boat rentals are closed by the time it is dark, so this wouldn't be an option for you :(

Not entirely accurate- you can rent the Grand I Yacht from the Grand Floridian. $350/ hour. We're doing that the evening of our wedding for fireworks watching.
Trus, you cannpt rent the water mice and I believe the pontoon boats have a similar restriction.

It might not be quite as romantic as being alone, but maybe you could find others to share the cruise with you. It would still be fun!

If you haven't already, check out the cruise thread (one of those labeled "Important") at the top of the Theme Parks Forum.

Happy anniversary a little early!

Dallas_Lady, I know this is probably more than what you want to do but I thought I would mention it anyway (you just never know when you might need something like this in the future).

I don’t know if this is standard practice anymore, but during two of my Grand Plan stays at the Grand Floridian Resort, the Grand Plan staff had offered to set up an evening Private Dining event on a pontoon boat complete with butler for my husband and myself. We never got around to booking that event because we had so many other things planned for those stays, however, I have always regretted not doing it. I have an upcoming Grand Plan stay at the Grand Floridian Resort booked for later on this year, and I do plan on asking if that event is still available. For anyone who is looking for something unique like this, please contact the Private Dining folks at the GF to see what is available.
