We are traveling in a group and was thinking of renting a van (12 passenger) to travel all together from Okalhoma. :grouphug:

Any advise on where to rent from? I have never rented a car, so I am looking for any advice you may have. :confused3

check with the major rental places (AVIS, Enterprise, Hertz) early and see what they can do. Call them so you can get all your questions answered.

The other place you can TRY is a local dealership. They may be able to help.

Have you thought of a motorhome? I know you can rent them also, but not sure of the price.

Have fun planning.

You might try cappsvanrental.com - they have a location in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. We are renting a Malibu Max from them in September because they guarantee the make and model and I believe ALL their vehicles have a DVD player in them. Oh...and they are fairly reasonable - I know on a full-size I could probably beat their price with National - but the DVD player makes it a little better deal for us. I don't know what their full-size vans rent for.

good question, i'm in edmond and will probably be doing the same thing for our may trip...

all the Okies driving, shows ya how bad the DFW routes are....=(

I would suggest visiting the "Transportation Board" and looking for any current discounts being discussed (Entertainment Book, internet, etc.), after first seeing which companies have a vehicle as large as you need. You might consider two mini-vans with as large a group as you mentioned. I have driven from Tulsa to Orlando probably a dozen times (various routes) and being comfortable for a trip that long is a necessity. My boss has rented mini-vans from several different companies to drive to Florida (I always use National) and seemed to be happy with Hertz.

Good Luck.

Well, we have a suburban and a mini van but we were just looking for something we could all travel together. We have driven from Oklahoma in 2002 in our suburban and had a great time. It's my sister's first trip with her family and thought it would be fun to go together.

Thanks for the tip about the transportation boards for discount!!!!

There are 8 of us would a 12 be comfortable??

I actually would recommend a 15 passenger if possible. We own a 15 passenger van (don't ask) and what we do is remove the first seat (verrry easy to do) to make it easier to get in and out - have room for stuff, actually have brought inflatable air mattresses b4 to rest on (adults of course - poor kid stuck in car seats) anyway - taht would be my suggestion _ I would imagine it would not be too much more! If you can not get a 15 - yes 12 will do.
