Hey All, I am starting Jan 10th and wanted to know from anyone currently in the college program how the whole renter's insurance thing works out. It is my understanding that an insurance company can't underwrite a policy without an address to insure. What did everyone else do?

This is the last thing on my 'To Do' List for the Big move and then I can worry about freaking out about how Psyched I am to start!!!

Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!

I use USAA for renters insurance now and they wouldn't insure me in Florida. I ended up using Gieco, and made the policy effective the day after my check in date. Call Disney up for the address,, and after you check in, you can always update the policy with your correct address/phone number

when my DD went down in August, they said they same thing that we needed renters insurance. Then no one asked for it. But we did call our homeowners insurance and they said her stuff would be covered. So maybe check with your parent homeowners insurance first.

I am past college days, but thought I'd jump in to say exactly what Greenmom said. Check your parent's policy. You might be covered under it. Or they may be able to get a rider for your items.
