I am planning to take my mother to Disney for her birthday in January 2014. I've done a lot of research on the DVC villas and I've pretty much narrowed it down to BWV.

I want to go for about 10 days starting the 2nd week of January. What do you think my odds are of securing a standard view studio if I get my request in right at the 11 month mark? I am pretty sure marathon weekend will fall somewhere in our vacation timeframe.

I also really LOVE the idea of the 1BR. The only thing stopping me is that it would certainly cut a few days from the vacation as the cost increases significantly. Although, the full 10 day vacation would be feasible if it's likely I could get a reservation at the 7 month mark (time to save the extra money). Anyone have an idea on the chances of that? I've read that the 1BR is a little easier to get later in the game.

Thanks in advance!

If you want a standard view villa for 10 nights that include the marathon, you'll need to book at 11 months.

If you wait until 7 months, it's unlikely that you will be able to get either a SV studio or a SV 1 bedroom for 10 nights.

We spent 10 days at BWV two years ago during the marathon. Booked within a few days of the 11 month window for a standard view studio. Only some nights were available but our waitlist came through and all was well. Definitely book as soon as the 11 month window opens. Don't wait like we did. :)

At seven months, you'll be lucky to get a preferred non-BW view.

Ok, thanks so much! So definitely do everything at 11 months. I'm even considering a split stay, maybe trying Old Key West for a few days.
