We were at WDW end of March-April and rented a power chair for our daughter from Care. She uses a Jazzi at school and we were able to rent a similar model. It was delivered on time with the joystick on the left as she needed and it was in great shape. It was a little larger for her than would be ideal but she coped very well. It was a very good experience and thanks to all of you here for the contact info.:D

Glad to hear it worked out well for you.
We had considered renting a power wheelchair for our DD because I just don't want to travel on the plane with hers. She needs too much specific fitting and positioning equipment to make renting one realistic. Glad to hear it worked out for you though.

I hear you Sue about not wanting to fly with the power chair. I drove down by myself in December to get it there and it was so liberating for her to have the chair I think it would break her heart to go back to the manual. We are very lucky that she doesn't need any special positioning adaptations.

I really hear you about the increased independence. My DD is a different person in her power chair, but some of the days during our trip, she would not have been able to drive it for long because of fatigue. When we talked to the rental people, they could provide a standard seat and back, but she really needs a Jay (pressure relieving cushion and back). I thought about bring her own and just asking if the could mount the holders for it, but then the wheelchair would have to be exactly the length and width of hers. And then I started thinking about her footrests - she needs heavy duty footstraps to hold her feet down. Otherwise, when she gets excited, we have feet flying all over. One of these days we'll get really brave and bring her power chair.
