Rented points payment

I had book someone a room and had great communication yesterdat. She promised to pay before this morning and I haven't heard from her all day. I truly believe she has every intent to pay. I have tried calling and emailing her with no response.

How long should I wait before cancelling and looking for another renter? I was hesitant because the reservation is within 30 days. So now these points will go into holding.

Your mistake. You should have gotten paid in full just to make the reservation. You need to try to rent the reservation to someone else to salvage the points.
 
At this point you might as well keep it and try and get payment for a few more days but I'd also re-list the points for rent asap and try and find someone else wishing to rent a reservation within 60 days. Hopefully the end of your UY is not too close so you have a little time to locate someone else.

For a rental of 30 days or less it is in an owners best interest to get payment before booking unless the points are already in holding otherwise you risk restricting your points if it falls thru. Hopefully the person you reserved for will resurface and it won't be chalked up to an expensive lesson. :flower3:

Yes, my mistake. I did however see that she had good rental history where the renter would comment saying easy transaction and so forth and I did speak with her on the phone. This is my second time renting, the first was a confirmed reservation and I felt bad that the resort she wanted and was showing available at the time then became unavailable. She emailed me some pointers about renting out my points.

I know there is a big storm on the east coast so maybe I will give her another 24-48 hours
My points dont expire until end of August.

I would give her 72 hours before I relist your rental. But before I relist I would send her a final email saying that the ressie will be cancelled in 24 hours unless payment is rec'd.

PS How did she say we was going to send you payment? Check? paypal? CC? USPO?
 
She emailed me early this morning from the supermarket because due to the storm she lost power and she made her payment. Thank you again for your advice!

Good...I was thinking that as soon as I saw your post. My parents have not had power for almost two days and I have not been able to contact them since yesterday morning. There are trees down all over their street basically trapping them in the house. It is rough here in the East right now.
