Hello. I was wondering if someone may help me. I rented points from a fellow Diser, and I received the Confirmation letter in the mail today, but is there a way I can call and verify the reservation in their system? Just want to double check. Thanks in advance. :)

My fiance and I rented points last year from a fellow DISer and he also emailed us a copy of the confirmation letter he had received from Disney. I was able to call and confirm the reservation with the reservation number that I had from the letter. It's not a problem. Once the reservation is in your name, you can call about it at any time. :goodvibes

DVC's Member Services will only speak with members now so you cannot call them to verify a rented reservation. The resort where you will be staying will get your reservation information a few days prior to your check-in day so you can call them directly just a few days ahead of your arrival to verify that they have a reservation for you.

This changed about a year ago. As Lisa said, member services will only speak to members.

Well, this was last October (so 6 months ago) and I called the resort directly about a month out. I didn't called MS.

Well I don't know how this happened ...EVERY single time I call MS they won't speak to me on any matter until I have verified my name..address and member number....I think it was a complete one off what happened with you.

sarcasticblonde didn't call MS. They called the resort directly.

I'm surprised they were able to confirm anything a month out. I've always heard the resort doesn't have the info until a few days prior to arrival. That's why you often see suggestions here on the DIS that people call 3-4 days before their trip, and call directly to the front desk of the resort.

But apparently, at least in sarcasticblonde's case, the info was available a month ahead of time.

Yes, I found that ut today. I tried to call, and was told they were only aloud to speak with the member. So my question is, can I check my ressie any other way? I did get the actual confirmation letter, but I just wanted to hear it for peace of mind. Any suggestions?

No, you can not confirm it any other way, except to call the resort directly shortly before your scheduled arrival. And even if you could, there is nothing that would prevent the member from canceling the reservation two seconds after you confirmed it. Disney/DVC will not become involved in a rental transaction, it is a private transaction, based on trust, between you and the member.

Thanks for the reply. You do have a point. I am fairly confident, I have found a great member. I am always one to confirm and reconfirm everything, :confused3 so It will take some getting use to, but I am sure with the money I saved, I will be able to get over it. Thanks again.

I don't know where you people get your information.....you must make it up as you go but except for "sarcasticblonde" you are all wrong.I rented points from a member last month and called the resort direct to verified my ressies for the VWL in Aug 08.....lets calculate that people...6 months out! Please can we stop giving out wrong information.Don't guess if you don't know. The whole purpose of this site is to help people not misinform them!!!!

Perhaps you rented points that were "developers" points. Those are a manual reservation, so Member Services has to make them with the resort directly. If a member is using their own points they are not downloaded immediatey to the resort.

There was nothing stated on this thread at all giving out the wrong information.
You cannot call MS if you are a renter and verify the reservation any longer. The front desk does not get the info until a few days before arrival.
She just got lucky if she called a month out and got lucky that the reservation was there.

Yes you could have rented developer points that might be diffrent, or you could have had a CM that just wanted off the phone and to satisfy you they said that you reservation was there. You just dont know.
So let me say again that noone here has given any wrong information.
Also the info that is posted here is a fact sorry that you dont want to believe that but thats how it is.

So there is no need to get all worked up and upset about it.

Perhaps I didn't.......the member used his UY points. He has been a member since 1998.He made the ressies and I verified them roughly 10 days later by calling the VWL resort number......Is it impossible I have to say no because I did it.:)

That does not mean that they have not added on to their points and had develpoer points and used them to make the reservation for you.

So, I figured I would hop back in the conversation to clear some things up. My original post said that we were able to call OLD KEY WEST - not MS - a month out to confirm our reservation. We had rented to points from a fellow DISer. What I said was true. It was the first time I had ever called Disney to confirm a resort reservation, so I wasn't aware that there was a time frame in which they could confirm a reservation. I was just lucky that they were able to tell me.

Now I see where a fight has started because another person has said that they called 6 months out and were able to find out and he/she is saying that everyone else is wrong. So I figured I would set her straight.

We are DVC owners at SSR/OKW and currently have an October 2008 reservation at BWV. So I decided to call BWV directly just now - at 1am Chicago time - and the CM that answered told me that they do not get the information until 5 days out.

So there you go original poster, hope that helps you. And there you go, Goofyz3girls. Straight from the horses mouth.
