My parents and I are planning a family trip for Disney World next June. We're looking to stay in a home rental off Disney property, but no further than 15 minutes from the parks. We've heard a few horror stories about people being scammed out of money, or ending up in a dump. We've been looking through Trip Advisor, but what are some other rental sites/companies that you've used? Thanks!! :)

Several close, popular areas are Windsor Hills and Reunion. Both are within 15 minutes of the Disney parks, closer to AK. My recommendation, book with a place that offers a refund if your plans change. And pay by credit card so you have proof you paid and if there is an issue, your credit card company deals with it (know from experience)

There are tons of places for rent, if you stick with one area and make a list of what is important to you it helps. Like we don't care as much about the pool but definitely want a Disney themed bed/bath and if the whole house is Disney themed even better! Look at lots of pictures and read reviews. We stayed at a 5 bedroom house in 2008 in Windsor Hills and loved it. It was Mickey's Clubhouse Villa. We planned to stay in Reunion this past April but had to change plans due to so much snow!

Check out VRBO.com We use them every time we go to WDW. Only stayed on site once. Not sure what your budget is but we like staying off site better than on site. It's also nice to be able to come home to a place to sit and relax after a long day in the parks. Your not all cooped up in a room. Other plumes I love... Washer dryer!! This way you can pack less. Your own pool!! Swim without a bunch of people around you.... Quiet time away from the kids!! Everyone has there own place to unwind when time away from everyone is needed.

This is the place we stayed at last. It was immaculate!! Yes it's pet friendly ( we took our dog) BUT there was no pet odor at all. Check out the website.

Windsor Hills Town House, with a splash pool and Disney themes. It was 1/3 the price of onsite Mod with AAA discount. (AAA at mod)
I love having the washer and dryer, full kitchen , living room, and lots of separate sleeping areas. The kids were Disney site by the idea, but once we started off site and the tons more relaxation and room, we are now spoiled.

We never rode the bus except MK anyway. We will miss EMH, but this Fall there are none for MK the days we would want.

I just think I went home more exhausted when staying onsite. It was a cute idea the first trips, now I need me time not rushing, no squishing, and no limited meal availability out of the. Parks. Having things for breakfast or offsite is a real nice change.
