rental questions at Port Canaveral

After we leave the Disney Wonder, we have plans to stay a few days in WDW. All of the rental offices are 3-7 miles away from port. Will the companies' shuttles be there to take us to the rental desk?
Also, has anyone used Avis and returned the rental at the Hotel Hilton desk in Downtown Disney? How do you then get back to your own hotel, say the WL?
I have priced everything out, and for a family of 5, this seems the cheaper way , rather than using the DCL transfers.
Thanks for any info, I am very confused as to what to do?

Yes the rental car companies at Port Canaveral have shuttles that will pick you up at the port and take you to the rental office. Don't know the answers to your other question about returning a car to DTD.

Not all of them have shuttles...three that do are Budget, Avis, and Hertz.
