Rental/Hotel for Kennedy help needed please

Me, DW, and both in laws are going from Nov30 to Dec 10 2009. We are staying at the parks while the inlaws do 6 days at park then go on 4 day Disney Cruise. We want to goto KSC on the 10th and stay in hotel near the port but have no idea how. Should we rent a car out of Disney? Should we get to airport first then rent car so we can come straight back there?

What is a good hotel near the space center? Please help?!

We've stayed at the Radisson at Port Canaveral. They have a shuttle service to the port-it takes about 3 minutes. Why not do two one way rentals? Rent a car from MK to Port Canaveral, drop off the night before the cruise (save a day's rental) and take the shuttle. After the cruise rent a car for drop off at the airport.

There's also a Residence Inn by Marriott that looks pretty nice, and a Country Inns and Suites in Port Canaveral, not too far from Kennedy. I would avoid the Clarion in Titusville (great location for viewing launches, not good to stay at).

There are several places to rent a car near WDW -- the Car Care Center near MK, Swan/Dolphin, and several hotels on Hotel Blvd, near DTD. You can return the car to MCO.
