We are interested in checking out Universal this trip. I doubt we'll do Disney at all (been about 4 times in 4 yrs). Ready for something different.

Will possibly need a 5BR house and wondering which subdivisions / areas to focus on to be close to Universal.

Thanks!

Sounds similar - we are not doing the Disney parks but trying Universal (haven't been in years!) now that the kids are up a bit. As far I as know there are not really vacation rental homes near Universal as Orange County do not issue the short term rental licences. Probably your best bet will be to check out Kissimmee - perhaps the resorts East of the I4. We stay at Coral Cay (townhomes rather than villas) which is about 20-25 min drive to Universal - depending on the traffic of course :)

I believe there are condo's in the area, but no STR pool homes. From the formosa gardens area (Windsor Palms, W.Hills, Emerald Island, Arcadia Estates, Rolling Hills etc) it is approx 25-30 min drive. :moped: Is a pretty easy drive and I don't mind it at all (192 -> I4 and as soon as you get off the I4 you are almost at the entrance to the parking structure).

We stayed in a Sunset Lakes home before, so sounds like that general area of Formosa Gardens etc, is still going to be the best bet, just a little more of a drive...

We are doing the same next year with friends. I've been looking around at the 5 br homes offered through all star vacation homes
( http://www.allstarvacationhomes.com )
The company came HIGHLY recommended so I think we'll go with them :thumbsup2 They even offer a free rental car (or gas card or groceries) , free pool and hot tub heat, and free cleaning service if you rent for 7 days. That really works for us!

We'll hopefully be staying at Vista Cay in October which is right across the street from the Convention Center where I'll be attending a conference.
