Rental Cars: Combining Codes / Coupons

I've read reports of people who rent a car and combine codes and coupons. My question is, exactly how do you do it? How do you really know what can be combined and what can not?
For Example, I want to reserve a car with Budget for $129 for a week and try to use a $20 off coupon from Costco or Entertainment book. Can I do it? How?

I usually "get" this stuff but, maybe I just need a drink... or two... or three...

I don't know if Budget is the same, but I just made a reservation with National for next Feb. There is a space on the form that says "contract ID" and another that says "coupon" . It will tell you if you cannot combine them. I just keep trying different codes until I get a price I like. Good luck!

When trying to get the best deal try it first without any codes or contract numbers. Sometimes putting in this codes or contract numbers raise the rate before it lowers it.

Then one by one insert your codes or coupons and see if it truly lowers the rate.

:p I just got an unbeleivable rate on the National Website for our 4 day trip in December combining codes I found on mousavers.com. Rate is $86.65 including taxes and fees for a 4 door Intermediate.
Contract ID - 5760339
Product Rate Code - WWEB
Coupon ID - 10008199 (you need to print out coupon)

I used all three to get my rate. Closest I found on any other website (Avis, Budget, Dollar, Alamo) was $121.

I assume it's ok to post the codes since they are public knowledge on mousesavers.:p

Does anyone know if you can use a different contract ID than what is on the vacationoutlet coupon code? I get my best rate entering the same info as WDWpsycho, but I worry that it won't hold up when I check in since the contract ID isn't what's on the coupon I print out. (And using that contract ID gets me a much higher rate.)

Hi
Thanks for the codes- I was able to use all except the coupon code, and got a slightly better raet than I had with Dollar.

I am trying to fill out the quick rent- and it won't let me? Did you do this? Every time I press continue- it just stays on the same page. I have looked it over several times and can't see that I am missing any info.

With quick rent you cannot make a reservation more than 30 days out and you cannot use coupons.

With National you can combine different rate codes and different coupons.

I used BJ's coupon with an AARP code. No hassle no problem.

Does anyone have a code for a coupon for National in the Entertainment book? I want to see if I can use that coupon instead of the other one. If it works, I will buy the book.

I need a car for 9 or 10 days

thanks

just pm'd you hope it helps
peg:p

wdwpsycho,

Thanks so much for your post! I've been working every day to get my rate down for our trip in 2 months. I just used your info, but changed to the coupon 10008198 and I lowered my 8 day rate by $36!!:teeth:

I didn't know you could use any coupon with any contract number. Thanks Gail! :Pinkbounc

You are quite welcome. :)

What are the dates all of you are going? Where do I get these coupons to "print" out. I am going in September from 9/5-9/13 and cannoy find a good rate anywhere? Any suggestions...please help!!
Thanks

in this thread- all the codes are listed

I can't copy and paste right now

Go to www.vacationoutlet.com to get the printable coupon.

I used a code off mousesavers.com combined with the vacationoutlet coupon to get a rate that was better than a towncar. Figure this way we're not limited to only 30 minutes for a grocery stop. HTH!

I prefer to use National or Dollar....but if Alamo has a good rate that would be an option also.

Alamo has some very nice rates out there now. If you are a member of Sam's Club, BJs or Costco, they have coupons also.
As mentioned before, go to www.mousesavers.com for a list of "anyone can use" codes.
