Going to Paris and DLP in May and looking for information on rental cars. Thinking of renting a car and driving to Munich the week before, but will have four adults with four suitcases and four small bags. What kind of car should I try to get? Is an SUV my only option, or could an intermediate car work? Do I need to pick up and drop off at CDG or are there places near Gare du Nord?

A 5 door Estate car will do ( fuel =Full to Full with Un limited KM )

Check out rentalcars .com or sixt rental cars

One of the rental sites mentioned a fee for crossing borders. Is that just one fee no matter how many boarders crossed, or is it per border?

Also, do most rental cars in Europe have toll transponders? If so is it better to pay the tolls as you go or just let them get added to the rental car? Do France and Germany have different toll companies so the transponders don’t work on all tolls?

If you drive From France to Germany & back no travel FEE is required

BUT from Germany to Austria A FEE is required

AND a trip INTO Switzerland from ANY country a fee is required

MOST CARS will NOT have Toll Transponders SO it is PAY AS YOU GO

I Always use Back roads anyway

No .... You buy A 7 day or 14 day sticker at a local shop / fuel filling station

and place / stick it on the inside of windscreen Where it can be seen

It is called a Vignette ( a road Tax disk )

...........................

In Switzerland it is / was a 12 month .. Vignette even if you were spending or passing through there .

........................

Look up the Maritim Hotel chain or Leonado ( ? )
