Hi just wondering if we should rent a car while staying at the rpr, i was there last year and we didn't use one, but we did not like the food at rpr, we thought we would have more food options with a car. anyone have any ideas and also what would be the best rental company and also the cheapest. thanks

You bet. I tell everyone to rent the car.

The cheapest major rental car company is Thrifty. Sign up for Blue Chip and you get a slight discount and skip the line at the airport. It's free and only takes a few minutes to sign up. Thrifty is the best because they don't have those dumb coupons that never work like the others. Plus the other companies charge a ton more during the week, not Thrifty.

You'll pay $12 a day to park the car at the hotels. You'll pay for gas and the rental car charge. But the convience factor is what you're buying. Many people don't see this. You can ping/pong to Sea World (SWF) or even the Disney parks at night since they always stay open late.

And the big perk is visiting restaurants and Publix to stock a cooler.

We always rent a car. We love the convenience to wander off property. And to stock that cooler as Robvia said. We go to the outlets - have to make a pitstop every trip to the Edwin Watts outlet - we go to WalMart, etc.

Can't tell you which is the cheapest because we always go with Hertz because of the excellent service. A bit more, but the ease and convenience of the Gold club is worth it to us.

Check the transportation board - there are threads and threads of rental car codes, and how to make the best use of all the coupons.

Personally, I would rent a car from the Hertz outlet over at the Portofino.
