I have damage insurace through my own auto policy, but no liability insurance. $12 per day for liability insurance should I buy it? Also since I'm using my own auto damage insurance do I need to check the car over very carefully before driving off? Do they do a vhicle inspection with you before you leave at Thrifty (MCO) ?

Check with your credit cards, as they often offer additional insurance for rental cars that pays after your primary policy.
At Thrifty, they don't check the car over with you, so check it carefully yourself and take photos of any damage if you have a digital camera with you.

I would talk to your insurance agent. Liability insurance is required by state laws (bodily injury or physical damage to others). Physical Damage is not (damage on your car).

I've never heard of damage insurance with no liability on an auto policy. Call your agent.
