So we are doing things a little different then most people probably do it. Since i know that we can get around DLR and back to LAX without a car I would like to turn our rental car in the day we check in. We are renting a car for our time in San Diego the 4 days before (Sea World, Zoo, etc). We are flying into San Diego so we are picking up the car there but then driving to Anaheim and wanting to get rid of the car. Is there anyplace for a one drop-off other than the airports that we would then have to pay and ride the shuttle back to the resort? TIA!

There are several car rental agencies within walking distance to DLR. There is an Alamo in DTD, a National car rental on Katella, just around the corner from DCA, and an Enterprise on Katella the other direction that I know of. You'll pay a one-way drop fee, for airport return or neighborhood return. Some non-airport locations take one ways, some don't, you have to search.

Not all companies, not all places, not all specific rentals have a drop-off fee. Just run the scenario for your situation and see what gets you the best price.

Alpine Inn on Katella has a National/Alamo location, and they have a shuttle. They happily took DH back to PPH after he dropped off the car.

Just FYI, it was significantly cheaper for me to keep the car for the whole week than to pick up and drop off in different locations. I think airport to airport might be a little cheaper than airport to random location.

(I flew in and out of SD, though so ymmv).

Check the hours of your drop off location. Those local places usually close by 6pm and after hours drops are charged until they open the next morning.

Thanks for this post. We're flying into San Diego, 4 nights then driving to DL for 3 nights, and flying out of orange co, I think.

We have a similar trip planned, flying into San Dieggo, car for four days and dropping in Anaheim. We found enterprise to be very reasonable and much less to drop when we get to DL and take a shuttle than keep the car the whole week.

Good to know, thanks!
