So I have a car reserved with National for our upcoming vacation to DL at a very good rate. I used a BJ's code and weekly rental coupon, plus I have Executive Selection so I can get a full size for mid size price. It is a nine day rental (1 week plus two extra days based on our pickup and drop off times).
Then my homebound flight was cancelled and we were rebooked much earlier in the day. It turns out we are leaving about 10 hours earlier than originally planned. This is early enough to knock one of the days off the rental period. So I went onto the National website to update my reservation and it came back at double the price. I didn't finalize the changes. I quit as soon as I saw the new price, but now I am wondering what will happen when I drop off the car 10 hours earlier than originally planned. Will I still get the rate listed on my reservation but just get charged for one less extra day? Or will they somehow up the rate significantly? Does anyone have experience with this?
