Rental car pickup location ?

Hi, we are looking to rent a car for a couple of days to head to Kennedy Space Center at the end of our trip. I'm wondering if we can walk to the Wyndham Palace from DTD, since we're planning on spending some time there before we leave or should we take a bus back to the car care center?
Also, where is the car care center?
