RENTAL CAR or UBER for EMBARKATION and DISEMBARKATION?

Is it complicated to rent a car for pre and post cruise? We have found pricing wise that renting from HERTZ is significantly cheaper than DCL transportation or private. UBER seems a bit unpredictable in price but would consider if people think car rental is a big hassle. We plan on express check out on disembarkation. We are a group of six. Any thoughts, tips or suggestions greatly appreciated. BTW... we sail this Saturday on the FANTASY -9/7! Thank you in advance!

We pretty much always rent a car when we sail out of PC. Usually Avis to the port and then Avis or Enterprise back to the airport. I prefer the flexibility of my own car for the longer trip when going out to PC, so we can stop at the grocery store or go to lunch/dinner.

For Ft. Lauderdale, we do Uber, since it is much closer.

Do you have loyalty status (ie, Hertz Gold) with the car rental - where your reserved car is waiting for you, so you don’t stand in a line? That made a big difference.

It all depends on when cars coming in get returned and cleaned. I had no problems with Hertz or Avis in the past.

But totally agree with getting car v bus transfers for a cost savings.

FYI, sometimes those programs only work at certain locations. I have National status so I get to pick a specific car from a specific row and just drive to the exit. But, while that works at MCO, it does not work at Port Canaveral. I have to stand in line at PC (though I think the do have a dedicated line for those with status).

I don't mind standing in line at all, just noting that those 'skip the line' perks don't work everywhere.

It definitely wasn’t the pick a car situation. Or even your name and stall on a board.

But the line was very short v those who either didn’t have a reservation or status.

And, surely, if the cars aren’t returned yet, nobody is getting out fast.

I was just contemplating a rental on disembarkation day. Last time I did this, I took a shuttle to Hertz. Is this still available?
