Rental car needed for SSR Treehouses?

Hello! We are going to WDW for the first time in October, so we have no idea how spred out the properties are. I've heard the Treehouse Village is somewhat isolated and requires a 2nd shuttle to get to from the main SSR.

I am trying to decide if it is worth $500 to rent a minivan to get around. There are 6 adults + 1 toddler so we need that over a cheaper car.

We are going to try to keep DD on somwhat of her usual nap schedule which would mean going back to the hotel mid-day and if she is cranky & going to have a meltdown it is better in the privacy of a rental. We have ADR every night, mostly at other resorts & I have read is a pain to go from resort to resort on the bus.

It is just alot of $$ for what is mostly convenience in getting the rental so I am trying to justify it.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What are your dates? You may be able to find a minivan for much less, if that makes your decision easier. Pretty much any week in October you can get one for just over $300 per week including taxes and fees here:

We stayed at the THV this month. They are delightful!

We did have a car and I would personally not stay there without one. However, the bus transportation was much better than I anticipated. Four times part of our family took the bus back to the villa from a park and 3 out of 4 the THV bus was either already there or pulled up right away at the Grandstand bus stop.

Going to other resorts by bus is never easy. You must use a park or DTD as a transfer point. I would either rent a van or make reservations at the Turf Club or the DTD restaurants. The boat runs every twenty minutes and is a delightful way to get to DTD.

Have a wonderful trip. THV is magical IMO.
