Rental Car Logistics Question

Hi, I guess this is the right place to ask this, hope someone can give some advice. We'll be visiting the parks for four days in December. On our last day we will be driving down to my grandparens' house in a rental car after going to AK. We have a reservation through the Disney car care center. We are only renting the car for one day so we can get down there (3 hour drive), but it's costing us about $100 because we're only going one way.

Sooo, my questions is- what would you do? Should we get the rental car really early in the morning, pack up, check out and park the rental car at AK so it will be ready for us to leave? Or get the rental car later in the day? If we did later in the day would we be able to check our luggage at the hotel? Another consideration is when we'd have to return the vehicle. If we rent it early in the morning we'd have to return it that night when we get in or early the next morning. If we don't get it until later in the day then we have some time the following day to return it.

BTW, we have a 2 and 4 year old and have Tusker House breakfast reservations that morning...

With regards to luggage, you can store it with bell services. We usually do that with our carry-ons, but they can also store full sized luggage.

My issue would be one of time spent driving around. If you go to AK, have breakfast, then head to the CCC and get the car, you then have to drive back to your resort, get your bags, pay the gratuity to Bell Services, then pack up and drive to grandparents.
If you get the car earlier, then you can pack it, drive to AK, eat, and then drive directly to grandparents.
I guess you have to decide which is more important....just heading to AK for breakfast, or heading to CCC to get the car early and then back to the resort.
What resort are you staying at???

We'll be at POFQ. I guess I'd like to have the car to pack up in the morning and drive to AK so we're ready to go once we leave the park, but how early will we have to get up in the morning to do this before the park opens??
