Please forgive if this is a silly question but what info will I need to have for the rental car agency. I have never rented a car out of state before. Thanks,

I haven't either but I'm renting in July and I've been checking all the rules with the rental agencies and here's what I've come up with:

Current vehicle Insurance Policy
Driver's license for whomever will be driving
Credit Card (most don't like cash or debit cards)

Most rental agencies do not require proof of insurance.
A few rental agencies will take a debit card.
You have to be over 21, under 25 will pay an extra premium to rent the car.
You will need your drivers license and whatever coupons you may use.

Some car rental agencies charge for extra drivers if they are not a spouse. Get the best rate first and if prices are equal you can avoid the extra driver charge if you rent from Avis or join National's Emerald Club (read http://www.mousesavers.com for tips on joining without a fee). You have to read the fine print on the car agencies web site but as the other folks have said you pay a lot more for drivers under 24. My 21 year old son needed a car in New Mexico last year and the rate almost doubled because of his age.a Good luck!
