Could anyone reccomend a rental car company close to where the Ship tenders to in the Grand Cayman? Thanks for your your help... busy planning for Aug 28, 04 Magic...:)

I made a reservation on the following site for our April trip:

In all honesty, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I still can't decide if it is worth it, or if we should just get a cab to take us around. Just out of curiosity, do you know what you plan to do that day? We were just going to go to the turtle farm, then find a beach, and I'm not sure if we really need a car to do this. Sorry for a long response, I know this was more than you were looking for!

No appologies please....appreciative of any and all responses.

As for our plans, we we are not sure, but one thing we do like to do is to get away from the "usual" spots filled with all the other travellers. We of course like all of the popular spots, but really want to get into the Island a bit more and stop at the occassional unknown store, restaurant, etc. We are not overly adventurous, but we do like to look around.

I just wrote today to the Cayman Island Tourism office to get a package of brouchures, that will probably help us decide on where we want to go.. Thanks for the help.:)

We rented from Budget (offices just behind Hard Rock). We were able to see all of the island, stop where we wanted, made it to Rum Point before all the tours got there and it got too crowded. We drove to Hell and all along the coastline to where the blow holes are. The advantages outweighed the disadvantages for us. We could stop whenever we wanted, take as long as we wanted and only had to make sure we were back in time to catch our charter to Stingray City. It was great! If we ever get back to Grand Cayman, we would definitely rent a car again.

I think renting a car is cheaper then a cab.. and Avis is a great choice. Cabs are crazy there, I think its $10 US each way per person to the turtle farm so you're lookin at $20 return and you can do much better with Avis as they cruise rates.
