Rental Car for Outlet Shopping

Has anyone tried Zipcar while in WDW? My goal is the best rental car option for one day (to go to outlets) but dont' want to defeat the purpose of saving $ at outlets by spending a fortune on rental car.

Or am I just better off with a taxi?

Depend on how far away you are for a taxi. Car rental prices have gotten pretty high?

Are the outlets there significantly less expensive than your normal stores at home? The ones around DC are not.

The Outlets do provide great savings esp. for our twins who grow out of clothes at a rapid pace. Dis outlet is also good. Have found great deals there in the past. Planning to stay at Bay Lake.

Interesting. The outlets here are mostly disappointing. Though some of the store names I've seen when driving by the outlets in Orland are impressive.

We always rent a car to go shopping. I am an Alamo Insider member (free to join) and usually find a weekend rental rate of $10 or $15 plus taxes. We will book it for pick up at the Buena Vista Palace which is right across the street from the DTD bus stop. It's probably a 5 minute walk.

Walt Disney World is in Lake Buena Vista. Best I can tell, all the zipcars are in downtown Orlando and the University of Florida campus.

I was also thinking about renting a car for 1 day of shopping...We are staying at Beach Club so we can just pop over to Doplhin and grab a car for a day.

I have 2 questions:

1) Do you need to book the car in advance or do they keep a few spare cars for drop ins??

2) Are there any extra charges for insurance because I am from Canada??
