Rental car for 6 people

I have read several of the rental car threads. Lots of fantastic info.
Problem is getting a rental car large enough for 4 adults and 2 children and ALL the luggage. The rates are sky high.

Does anyone have tips for renting a van?

Right now I have one reserved for about $485 for 5days. Hoping to do better.

We've used Priceline to acquire a minivan for a range of $230-$310 over 3 different visits.

How many days did you have the minivan? We will need it for 5 days in Jan/Feb.
Did you take the collision coverage?

One thing I have figured out is to check often!
And especially a few days before we go.

We booked through CostcoTravel.com and got a great deal.

Check with your insurance company, quite a few will already include rental car insurance with your normal policy.

My family and I have a van rented from enterprise through costcotravel.com for 10 days for $256 all taxes included. I've used costcotravel.com the past 3 years, first year we got a jeep cherokee for $545. Last year a suburban for $505 (completely stoked on that one) and this year when I first booked a van back in may it started out at $690. I checked back everyday (crazy I know) and since then have booked and rebooked until I got the $256 price a couple weeks ago. I'm still checking up until the day we leave (nov. 27) to see if rates will change.

I love costco for car rentals, I've found the cheapest prices through them. As long as your willing to check back often, rates will change

I also recommend checking and rechecking prices. Also use any discount programs you have access to (Costco, Entertainment, USAA, etc.) And compare them all. I got a minvan for a week last January for $135! Haven't been able to repeat it, though...
