Rental Car companys are "funny?"NOT!

We originally wanted to rent a SUV for the time we are in Disney. The price was going to be $414.00 for the time we were there (Aug 12-23). I called to add 1 day on to the reservation as the airline changed the times (we had not yet got our tickets) so we decided to leave earlier. It was going to cost me approx $200 MORE!!!! Yes, that's right $200 dollars because they have to redo the reservation they would not redo it using the prices I already had they were going to do the whole thing over using the prices for today!!! YIKES. I kept the reservation as it was. As it turn out we then were going to return the car a day early when I modified the reservation on the website it was going to be $2.00 cheaper.......2 dollars.....HUH?? I called and spoke to a representative who was so nice and helpful but explained that yes, I would get $2.00 off my reservation as the prices are for weekly rentals. I just can't get over the difference if I need the car an extra day it costs $200 but if I bring it back early it is going to give me $2.00. Oh well, the man was super nice and we had a good laugh over it. He said I should just leave it and see if when I get to the counter if they would give me some sort of "roll back" but I feel bad as someone might be trying to make a reservation for the car and have to pay more because we have it reserved for a day we are really not going to have it. Well, to make this even funnier we canceled the reservation as DH is nervous that 5 people and 5 suitcases and a wheelchair and stroller won't all fit in a SUV so we ended up paying tons more for a van......oh well...we are going to DISNEY so it is worth it!!!!

If returning a car takes it from being a weekly rental to a daily rate they can charge you extra for returning the car early.

Yes most car rental places change their rates so your amounts may differ.

Is it right? No but that seems to be the way the airlines and car rental agencies work.

You need to do your homework and find the best deal for you because they sure aren't going to help you.

The same thing happened to me. Only difference is I'm planning a year in advance so I have time on my side. I'll just keep looking for a better rate. What would happen if you just paid the over time fee. You know if you don't return it on time there's over day or over hour fee...or what if you just went to the counter when you picked up the car and asked if you could add another day? I've never tried so I don't know if this will work.
