Does anyone know any rental car codes or where I can fine one? Also, what is the average price of a minivan rental? Some of the prices I have found have been quite high.:dance3:

If you have a Costco card, have you tride there codes? We got a pretty good deal and the second driver is free.

I just checked prices for Alamo through the Costco.com link. The price came out to $22. MORE that just booking with Alamo and using their $25. off coupon. The base rate using the "hot deal" e-mail I received was $209.64, total rate was $269. but through costo.com the base rate was $229.47. and total rate was $292.

I was, however, able to apply the Costco ID/Corporate ID code (675899) to the reservation I was booking through my "hot deals" e-mail I got from Alamo yesterday. End result: Using both the $25. off coupon, and the costco membership ID, the total came to $241.94, so an additional savings of $50 over just using costco.com This was for a compact car.

PM me if you want me to forward the alamo e-mail to you.

I had been having trouble getting a low minivan rental like I usually do and almost settled for out of terminal company.. decided that would not be fun with two tired kids after a 9 hour flight so I settled for e z rent a car for about $700 total for 2 weeks I had never heard of them but they were in terminal.. last night I tried one last time to play with codes and entered two codes a coupon and a id code that are found on the Dollar rent a car site and on the other from mousavers and got booked 2 weeks through them for a minivan for $210 per week came to $520 total for our two week booking. So keep playing around! :)

Just a little info on saving money with rental cars...

When using a Costco code, don't use the "link "on the costco site. Write down the ID # and any coupon # and go to the rental web site( National, Budget, ect.) instead. You will save on your rental, I ALWAYS do!

Additional coupons can be found on the Mousesaver website.

And for whatever reason, when booking on Budget, I always find a lower price on Budget.ca as opposed to Budget.com( the American site) .
Minivans are quite pricey, and in demand. Book early and keep checking the rate so you can modify the rate if it goes down. I have 2 minivans booKed for April/ May. One before the cruise, and one after. Rates are about $150.00 for 3 days, but it is still cheaper the using Disney cruise transportation ( for 6 of us).

Hope that helps!:thumbsup2

I always follow the boards and check mousesavers.com. You could also look at retailmenot.com. They always have codes that are worth looking into - I was able to save on air with American Airlines and hotel rates for a trip to Miami last Spring.

As everyone said, book early and keep checking. I booked our car rental back in January at about $280 for a mid-size. We are leaving in three weeks, and my cheapest rate now is $113 tax in for a mid-size with Alamo for one week.

I made a reservation for a minivan even before I booked my flights about 11 months in advance of our Feb 09 trip. I got a rate of $378 all tax/fees in for 11 days. It was from Thrifty(so off-site) but the savings are worth having to take a shuttle to pick up the van. The cheapest rate I can get a van for now is at least double my Thrifty rate.

What I do is check Travelocity.ca, and then Travelocity.com.
Travelocity.ca sometimes has better rates from Budget and Alamo because of special rates for Canadians.
Once I find the best rate on those sites I then go to the rental companies website armed with as many discount codes/coupons as I can find, and I apply the ones that work the best for my dates. If the .ca site is cheaper then the .com site make sure you change the country of resisdence to Canada instead of .com.

Like everybody has said, check back often for further discounts. I often check before leaving to the airport.

Obviously, one of the best places to start looking is mousesavers.com as has been mentioned.

I found that one of the lowest pricing codes for my dates was AWD K199060 used with Avis. That would price out a compact for $230 for 8 days (including tax). Much better than most other rates I've found.

I also found that the Marriott rate with Hertz was very good (that's what we're using). You have to be a member of Marriott's loyalty club, but it's free to join. I used their CDP#154080 and one of these coupons:

Economy - Full-Size
* Save $15 and double points on weekend rentals (PC#119792)
* Save $25 and triple points on weekly rentals (PC#119825)

Premium or Larger (including Prestige, Fun or Green vehicles)
* Save $20 and double points on weekend rentals (PC#119781)
* Save $30 and triple points on weekly rentals (PC#119814)

It's good until December 31, 2008, however you should be aware that Hertz is off-site. We just took the shuttle and it really took very little extra time, and for the savings we're getting, it was well worth it.

Good luck!

The best (and most consistent) code at the moment seems to be the Alamo Walmart code 430710. Its not the est I;ve seen but t does work.

Just used that code this evening. Booked a mid-size from Sept 21 to 28 for $137 USD. Over $60 saved from my original reservation.

I got a great deal with Dollar, not the one at MCO, as we will use DME, but the one close to WDW, they have a shuttle.
