rental car advice please!

We're going on our first Disney cruise -- the 10/25/03 Western Caribbean. We booked the cruise in August 2002 so although this is still 2 months away we are REALLY getting excited! And we have a secret porthole room too!!

We're going to fly in a few days early and visit relatives 2 hours south of Orlando, along the Atlantic coast. We need to rent a car for this side trip. Does anyone know if I can pick up a rental car at the Orlando airport and drop it off at the dock? That way we can just drive right up the coast to the dock. I'd rather not have to return the car to Orlando and then spend the time going to the dock.

Has anyone done this?

Yes - we are doing this too. We booked a rental car with Budget. I made two reservations - one for pickup at the airport and drop off in Cape Canaveral, then on our return we will pick up at Cape Canaveral and drop off at the airport. They have a shuttle that will drop us off and pick us up at the port.

Last year we sailed on Royal Carribean and rented a car from National. We dropped it off at the Cocoa Beach location which is not far from the Port and received 10% off our rental. The cost of the taxi from National was about $10. They have cabs at the rental location at all times. When we returned from our trip, we simply called and by the time we got our luggage, the car was there.
