Hi,
I am a newbie to this villa renting thing. I have decided on a villa and have been in contact with the owner via email. I just informed her I am ready to book. This is the response she sent me back.
"We prefer payment by Paypal so if you log onto www.paypal.com and make a payment of $200 this is your deposit. When I receive the notification from Paypal I will send you an e-mail confirmation of your booking. You then need to send the balance of $750 at the end of February by the same method and when I receive that I will send a further e-mail with an attachment from our management company which gives details of where you go to their office to collect the keys."

She doesn't mention any kind of contract or rental agreement, nothing written down or signed by either one of us. What should I do?

ETA: I have checked the county website and they do own the property. I have also seen their website and their ad of vrbo.com

I always like my guests to sign terms & conditions and a booking form to secure a booking but each owner is different .I like the confirmation and feel it gives both parties an understanding on what is expected in regards to cancellations etc but if you are happy with the way your owner is doing things then that's fine

Like Jan, I too like guests to sign a booking form. It saves any misunderstanding on both sides later. All owners work differently, so if you feel happy with the agreement it should all work fine.
