Rent/transfer points question

Friends of ours want to rent some points from us. My home resort is at SSR but they would like to stay at the Boardwalk. My sister-in-law's home resort is at the Boardwalk. If i transfer points to my sister-in-law would she be able to book at the 11 month mark for the Boardwalk using my points that i transferred to her and then rent it out to our friends?

No, your SSR points can only be used at SSR until the 7 month mark, regardless of whether or not you transfer them to a BWV owner.

Exactly as Sandi stated. Your points will always be SSR points. When points are transferred, they maintain their home resort and UY.

Sandi and Deb are both right, but that doesn't mean you can't accomplish what you want...if your SIL is agreeable. If your SIL doesn't need home resort booking for her upcoming vacation(s), you can just have her make a reservation for your friend, and then transfer points to her account to replace the points rented.

OR...you could make some agreement with your SIL to transfer her points to your account (giving you the booking advantage you want), and then settle up with her later. (That might have to be in another UY, because you can only have one transfer in OR out in a given year.)

[ETA: There are a lot of nuances with transfers, so be sure to double-check your plans with MS before you do any transactions.]

That makes sense. Thanks JimMia for the tips. I know that SIL is not using her points this year for her home resort so that may be a possibility.
