I've points I'm probably not going to use by date removed and
would like if someone with experience can point me in the
right direction on the process herein.

-Thank you, for your time!

Check the top of the Rent/Trade board for some stickies on renting.

Generally though - transfer can only be done with another member and once it's done, they are in control of the points. Renting means you make a reservation for someone using your points - you remain in control of the reservation at all time.

I agree with Vicky, I have mostly done transfers, once is done, is done. With rental, you should go into an agreement and you will have to make reservations with DVC.

Unfortunately, you haven't been an active member on the DIS, so you probably won't be able to use the R/T Board on the DIS. You'll have to look at other means to getting your points used.

No, you won't be able to post a new thread on the rent/trade board.
The new rules are that you have to an active member, and posted at least 50 posts on any non trade/rent board, evenly spread over the past 6 months, in order to be able to post a new thread.
I have been a lurker for two years, and occasionally posted before. But it wasn't until a few weeks ago I really started posting on a regular base. I've spent quite some time here the past weeks, and do enjoy now posting more and taking part in discussions. I would like to post a new thread on the transfer/rent board as well. Still, even after 100 posts, my post on the rent/transfer board was declined today, because I didn't have any posts in the past 5 months prior to this month

I do understand why they apply this rule, so people wouldn't just post to rent/tranfer, and to give people who are renting points the chance to get a feel of who they're dealing with, but I personally, though I enjoy being on the DISboards now, know I probably won't be around this frequently all year around. I don't know about everyone else, but I doubt everyone is around here all year long? So I'm really having difficulties with the "evenly spread over the 6 months" part of this new rule.
Just had to vent my feelings on this ;)

So, you won't be able to post a new thread, DVC guy, you can reply on a "transfer wanted" post though,

Good luck!:flower3:

The current policy only asks for an average of 2 posts per week to demostrate that you are actually part of the DIS community. Some seem to feel that making 50 posts in a few days (or hours) so they can financially benefit should qualify them as an active part of the DIS Community.

Most don't see 2 posts per week over the past 6 months as any barrier though and are able to benefit from the free service being offered by the DIS.

Those offering to rent on the DVC Rent/Trade Board have generally been able to rent their points in a relatively short time and have found the benefit of being part of the Community.

I have no idea if all members on DISboards visit and post on a regular base. But having been a moderator of a group myself for over the past 12 years (not Disney related), my experience is that even though people may be around for years, sometimes they're absent for a certain period of time, maybe a few months or even more. That's why I'm having problems with the "50 posts - evenly spread over the past 6 months" part of the new rule.

I personally have been a lurker on here for two years, but haven't really taken part in discussion before. Somehow I felt I didn't really "belong", being from Belgium, among mostly American or at least native English speaking people, while the English language is not my mother tongue. I did start posting a few weeks ago, and once I got the hung of it, I do like being around here. I also have made some posts on some very sensitive issues for me, which took a lot of courage for me to post, and I got support from some very nice people, which contributed to make me feel "at home" around the board.
Suggesting that I would around here just for the "financial benefit", truly hurts my feelings :sad2:

I personally don't see why someone who's been around here for 5 years and made about 500 posts (though no posts in the past few months) wouldn't be considered as an "active member" and wouldn't be allowed to post on the rent/trade board.
I also don't get why, hence the new rule, someone who has not even made 60 posts where half of them are made in the last few weeks, does get through modification on the rent/transfer board.
I also don't get why, hence the new rule, someone with barely 10 posts on a non-rent/transfer board during the past year does get through modification when posting.
These are just a few examples.
Yes, I would like to make a post on the rent/trade board too, but my post got declined.

I'm sorry, but I honestly don't think it's fair. It seems to me all are equal, but some are more (or less) equal than others :(

That's my two cents worth :sad1:
