Rent trade board?

What happened to the rent trade board. I was trying to find the link for a friend of mine. Can anyone help? Also, I came across a website that overseas the whole rental process for you and it seems like it would be safer than booking through an individual. Does anyone have any experice with them?

I have rented my points to strangers many times. Never had a problem on my end nor theirs. We DVC'rs are "safe", but I am sure there are scammers everywhere, so if it does not feel right to you, look elsewhere.

The website you are referring to is Daddio/ David's and there's a running thread at the top of the rent/trade board on it and probably an ad as well - DVCbyrequest is a DIS board sponsor.

The rule changed in July, but I also just became aware of it. There is another new rule with the 50 posts starting February 1st. You need 50 posts spread over the last 6 monthes.

You must have 50 posts to be able to start a thread on the R/T Board. Starting next month those, 50 posts will need to be during the last six months.

You can only posts points for rent or trade. No points wanted.

Seems SO UNFAIR to me since we were told when we did not use out points, we could "rent the points on the Disboards" as a selling feature from the DVC when we bought into the DVC. To change the rules mid-game seems so unfair.

In my opinion the rule changed to protect everyone. If someone only had 1 post they might come in and "scam" somebody. I personally like this new rule.

I find it interesting that Disney encouraged you to rent points before you even purchased the property. In my opinion Disney would prefer that no one rent their points so crazy that they promoted that option to you. At The Timeshare Store, Inc.® we don't get a lot of people buying who want to rent their points but if someone asks or the subject comes up we let them know there is a rental market.

Also be advised that the Disboards is not something created or owned by Disney or Disney Vacation Club as far as I know. The Disboards can create its own rules and I am guessing they could simply eliminate the Rent/Trade board section if they wanted.

Read the threads about the changes. The R/T Board is not intended as a fly by night board. It's intended as a perk for regular posters on the DIS. Two quality posts per week isn't much.

I really find it hard to believe that DVC would actually encourage owners to rent out their points.

If they led you to believe this, I encourage you to voice your concerns to DVC for promising you something they have no control over.

Thanks for the confidence. They DID tell us that at our appointment, and told us about the Disboards. I feel hurt that you would insinuate that I am making that up.

And I have contributed to the R/T board many times, because I wanted to, enjoyed it, and like to help people out. Now it is "necessary" and that is what I do not like. I do not see it as a "fly by night board". It is sad when a member puts out a question, and then feels like they need to be on the defensive.
