Rent or Transfer

We are new Members and I have a question about renting and transferring. Well mostly transferring. I think I understand renting but I'm still a little vague on point transfers. Can someone bring me up to speed?

We are planning a family reunion at our home resort BWV and this may help.

Once per year, you can transfer point IN to your account or OUT of your account. I did a family reunion trip in Dec 2007. I needed more BWV points to be able to get 2 2bedrooms for that trip so I had 100+ points transferred in to my account from another member. That worked well for me and I would do it again in the future for another family trip if I didn't have enough points to book the trip with just our own points.

Thanks for the info. Is the price per point for a transfer comparable to that of a rental? what about the time and effort involved?
