Rent crib? Welcome bags?

We are traveling to WDW in early December with our two grown daughters and 2 year old grandson. (We can not wait!!) We are staying at CBR (any tips about that resort would be welcome) in two rooms. My question concerns the porta-cribs they provide. Are they adequately comfortable for a two year old, or should we rent a full size crib?

Also, I am wanting to make gift bags for my daughters and grandson. This trip is our Christmas present to them, and since both of my daughters' husbands are currently deployed overseas, I am looking for ways to make the trip especially pleasant. Any suggestions of the types of items I might include that are either practical and/or helpful in marking this trip (their first)?

If anyone has any ideas for things I can do for the husbands overseas (particularly my grandson's father that is so wishing he could be there with us) to create keepsakes for them (other than the obvious of taking pictures) I would appreciate it. I am thinking of putting together a small scrapbook for them--but any other ideas?

Thanks!

We used the crib provided by the resort. We were at WL, and I believe that they are the same. The cribs are actually Pack N Plays. Our DD2 was comfortable in it. It was more than adaquate.

We stayed at Disney twice with my son at 7 weeks old at PC and BCV when he was 1. They both (as I believe all Disney resorts do) use the pack and plays for cribs. Just a reminder - I always brought my own sheet that I had washed in Dreft.

As far as the gift bags, the disney store carries a lot of small stuff that would be fun for them such as the washcloths that expand, play phones, etc. They put a lot of these items on sale several times a year for great prices. I got the washcloths for 74 cents a piece a few months ago on clearance.

Good luck and I hope you have a great time in Disney............

There is another thread about presents from Tink-where you put a small gift in the room each day and tell your grandson its from Tink-or you could say Mickey.

Also, if you go to Epcot, make sure you go to one of the venues that has e-mail centers-you can send Disney e-mails to the guys overseas. There is a great one at Kodak imageworks-you can add things to pictures to make yourselves look goofy (or goofier in our case! :) ) Here is a photo we did at Kodak, just to give you an idea of what I am talking about!

My family will be a CBR Dec 9-15!

FYI there is a CBR FAQ thread somewhere on here. I think it is under the Disney Resorts heading. I have found it to be very informative.

Hope this helps!

We will be there Dec. 6-11! Maybe we will see you there! :wave2: We'll be the ones with the really, really cute 2 year old grandson! (That narrows it down, right?) Oh, and I'll be the one that won't let anyone else hold him. LOL.

We have a Disney store at the outlet mall near our home so I am going to start checking in there once a week or so and kind of accumulate things. Thank you for the suggestions! I also thought I would hit up the dollar store for little gifts.

I really like the email tip. I think the guys would like that.

My grandson's name is Jack (no, not named after Jack Sparrow. We aren't that Disney whacked. Close, though.) so I bought my daughters and I all pink pirates of the Caribbean T-shirts that say " I <heart> Jack" and then I had a tee-shirt made for my grandson saying, "I'm JACK"

My husband won't wear an "I <heart> Jack" shirt. I ask you: Where is the man's team spirit? I think he is afraid it may get him some funny looks in the men's room.

Now I am looking for something cute for us to wear to Mickey's Christmas parade. :santa: Any ideas, Dis'ers?

Ah, the anticipation and planning is half the fun, isn't it? pixiedust:

I never used the porta-cribs because my babies just didn't sleep well in them.

We always rented from "A Baby's Best Friend" -- www.abbf.com

They were great -
We must have rented from them at least 6 times for both strollers and cribs.

Have a great vacation

OMG, I am trying to picture the funny looks your DH would get for wearing that shirt :rotfl2: ! Maybe you could get him to wear a shirt with Jack's photo in place of the name?

That is really a cute idea with the shirts! Good thinking :goodvibes .

We took DS this past May when he was 2yr 3mths and there was no way he would have slept in a PNP :scared: . We rented a crib (and stroller) from ABBF and would do it again in a heartbeat. It was so worth the cost of the rental to know that we would all be able to get a good night's sleep (and nap) to recharge and be ready for the next thing.

During our last trip we had many pictures taken by the disney photo pass photographers, and when we got home I made a great photo book on their website. It also let you add pictures from your camera and captions. It would make a great gift for your Grankids to give their Dads.
