My wife and I are flying in for a 2 day stay on a early flight Tuesday in April, week after Easter, staying at Port Orleans till Thursday, then taking a Carnival cruise, first time, to see if we like it before taking kids on Disney cruise, and flying back out on Sunday late. I know we can use magical express to get there we also have a early 7:45 ressie at O'hanas also worried about getting there early enough with park transportation, figured I would possibly need taxi for that then also to get to port canaveral, then our flight out is late around 6:00 pm so considered taking a taxi to Nasa for a tour until time for flight, that would be 4 taxi rides which I have never done so I don't know cost, If I rent a car rates start around $300 total after all fees for a compact would also have to pay $60 to park at port canaveral any input greatly appreciated on all topics first time cruise, car rentals, taxi services, best nasa tours, I get motion sickness pretty easy so that is the reason for the test cruise before dropping the money on a disney cruise for family of 5 thanks again

Are you saying you want to take a taxi from WDW to the Port? If so it will be insanely expensive. A rental car will be about 25- 30 dollars a day. And if you are looking at car rental rates now for April they are going to be very high. The rates get better the closer your trip gets. Look at the Dec rental thread and you will see that thread started months ago and folks were complaining that the rates were a few hundred dollars but as their trip got closer the rate really dropped.

I would rent a car.

you can look up cab fare at taxifarefinder.com

I would guess that you're going to be looking at about $200 plus tip each way between wdw and the port.

The Orlando car rental rates are very volatile! They may go down a week or two before your trip, but they may not. (Our Christmas car rates have quadrupled from my first booking during early-mid summer...but we had to change our dates...so I'm scrambling now.)
I say book the first thing that you feel you can "live with", then monitor the various sites to find a better deal. It is pretty easy to cancel with most agencies. Don't prepay unless something really blows you away!

You can also see if Carnival has any sort of shuttle out to the port (it might leave from the airport like Royal Caribbean's shuttle to PC). Also see if Carnival has any after-cruise excursion. Disney doesn't do it, but Royal has excursions to Kennedy Space Center that then include transportation to the airport at the conclusion of the tour. If Carnival did, that might be nice for your plans. And that way you wouldn't have to keep the rental car during the cruise (and of course wouldn't have to park the car during the cruise).
