Help me! My dh just booked us for a long weekend jaunt to California:cool1: We've never been - and here are his plans:

Arrive Sat at 2:00 - he wants to stay in Hollywood on Sat. night - do sightseeing things, etc., Sat and Sunday.

Sun and Mon. night stay in a hotel close to DL - spend Mon. at DL and then back to LAX for our (gulp) 6:10 flight.

This is a lot of traveling in a short amount of time. Should we look into renting a car, or taking a taxi or shuttle, or public transportation.

Also, I am concerned about our flight - we'll have to be at LAX at least by 4:00 am - how far away is DL area from LAX?

Thanks so much!

I moved this over to the main DL planning forum for you, so you should be able to get lots of responses.:goodvibes

I think you'd spend less, ultimately, and have more flexibility with a rental car. We've done two trips with a car (LAX to Disney) and one without, and we really preferred our trips when we had a car and could be on our own terms.

We've gotten great rental rates on a mid-size vehicle by booking with hotwire.com rather than paying the rates that individual companies give you. We're going for a week this month, and our rate for the entire week is only $200, including all taxes. You pay that in advance, so there's no cancelling, but we've done it for several years now and couldn't be happier (and we've always ended up with Hertz through them, btw.) Do be sure to ask your hotel what their parking rates are, and take that into consideration in the monetary total as you compare! I would think for a weekend, you could get a car for the cost of getting to Disney by shuttle one way!

We allow a generous hour to get from LAX to Disney, though if we were traveling with traffic we'd budget more time. For a 6:10 flight, we'd leave our Anaheim hotel at 3:00. That would put us at LAX right around 4:00 with time to drop off the rental car and get through security with plenty of time to spare.

I hope this helps! What an awesome weekend I'm sure it will be!
