Im looking at rent a car options where is the best deal?

I have been looking around and the price of rent a cars seems to have doubled since last oct Im flying into long beach.

Long Beach Airport (LGB):

For late May, the lowest price for car rentals at hotwire.com is ~$30 per day.

Sometimes people have had luck using hotwire.com, biddingfortravel.com, betterbidding.com, and priceline.com.

In the past I have heard about renting cars from LGB for $10 or $14 per day, but those prices don't seem to be out there right now.

Yup, bid on priceline. I have done it twice and have been very happy. You are guaranteed a major company at the airport you pick and such. I got a mini van for over half of any of the published rentals by doing that when we went to DL (and flew into LB).

I've been trying on priceline.com for weeks and they keep refusing my offer ($23 a day). They did have better prices on their site than if you go to the rental company directly.

Now that you mention it, that does make sense.

I wonder if that will work during late June, and I'm going to find out.

On another thread, they talked about reserving a Rental Car with an o.k. price (as a backup), and then trying priceline.

About a week or so before my trip, I'll call William Shatner, the Negotiator®.
