Rent a car or not?

I can't decide whether we should rent a car or not for our honeymoon trip in 2 weeks.
We are staying at the Hilton (@walt disney world) in Lake Buena vista. I priced a car rental about two months ago and found a great deal- $100 for the 6 days we are there.
Well, I also just found out that the hotel charges $35/day for parking. We were going to use the buses to get aroud to the parks, but we are also going to universal for two days, and possibly cocoa beach one day. I know getting a cab for two days to universal may cost around $160.
I'm just not sure if it is going to be worth it to rent a car or not. I really didn't want to have to pay lots of money for transportation since we are on such a limited budget, but then again I also didn't want to spend half my honeymoon vacation on public transportation.
Any thoughts or advice?

If you can swing it,the car is the way to go. You will be spending inordinate amounts of time waiting for buses, then sitting on them.

We personally wouldn't stay offsite without a car, and you'd be hard pressed to get us to stay onsite without a car. With all of the places you are going I think you would end up spending a ton on transportation and doing a lot of waiting. If you don't mind driving, I would rent the car in your case.

$35 a day for parking is an outrageous amount! More than double what Disney charges for parking at their parks. Heck it's probably about a third of the price of the room per day! Shame on Hilton for this kind of gouging!

We always rent a car even when staying on site. I have just had a quick look at their website and it says:

Parking:
Self parking: $14.00 (Parking Lot)
Valet: $20.00 (Valet Parking)

If this is right it may help you with your decision :)

I'd definitely rent the car, esp. because you will be going to Universal and the beach. And I'd call the resort and double check the fees for parking.
