Next summer there will 8 of us flying to Orlando, 6 from Montana and 2 from the East Coast. My question is that my brother wants to go see something outside of the Orlando area. It is some fort that is really old and is said to have the fountain of youth. If we are staying on WDW resort property does Mear transporation provide service to areas outside of the Orlando area? Or would it be best for him to rent a car and try to drive there himself? Being from another state I would think he would prefer bus transporation if it is available, but if not I guess he could drive. How does a person find out what areas Mears or any other bus service will go to?
You know there always has to be someone in the group who wants to see and do something different from everyone else! :D
Thanks for your help.

Is the fort / Fountain of Youth that your Bro. wants to see in Saint Augustine? If so--- That's at least 1 1/2 hrs. away from Orlando- maybe 2. Just so he knows- the Fountain of Youth is a total tourist-trap; The fort is okay, a national park- but easily seen in 1 hour. I used to live in Jacksonville, and went there several times- but I surely wouldn't eat up an entire day of my vacation driving over to Saint Augustine, seeing those attractions, then driving back.

As far as Mears goes- check their website and ask them- but I'd bet he'd find it much cheaper just to rent a car for the day. (check Alamo / national- you can pick up their cars at the Car care center near the Poly). Which brings up the question- with 8 people, you aren't using Mears to get to WDW from the airport are you? Because it would probably be cheaper, and alot more convenient to use a towncar limo to get there! Just my humble opinions....

Thanks so much nasmith for the information. My brother is a history major so enjoys seeing the historical sites. I think he is more interested in the fort. He says it is one of the oldest in the nation.
I will look into the Mears website as you suggested and talk to the others about using a towncar. I think that would be a better option also.
Thanks again.:D

You could always rent a car for one day! It probably would be cheaper than mears or a towncar.

book a roundtrip transportation from the airport to the hotel and rent a car for a day to go off disney property. rental car company will come and pick you up from your resort or go national on disney property. you can book a van for 8 people round trip for around $105 or get there in style like we did, in a super stretch limo for only $170. if you rent a car at the airport, you will be paying alot of money, waste your time in long lines, and don't forget you might get lost...and forget about the airport shuttle service, you will end up paying more and it will take you atleast 2 hours to get to your destination. we learned the hard way...
call happy limo or check out mousesavers.com for a coupon code.leave the driving for someone else and relax. they will meet you at the airport and take you direct non stop to your destination. they will even stop at a local grocery store if you wanna pickup some stuff for no extra charge. we have used happy for the last five years and we are very happy.
