Any news on the renovations at HRH?

We are staying there for 2 nights 24th to 26th oct and wondered how far they had got with the decorating, lol. :rotfl:

A member of our party doesn't like heights so we don't really want anything past third floor (lobby floor).

Many thanks for any info given

I have heard that they started at the top and working their way down. So if you plan on staying close to the ground, I have a feeling you will be out of luck.

We were there last week, and only the seventh floor was being worked on. We ended up having to stay on the fifth floor, but still had access to Club 7.

It seemed that only one "wing" at a time was being done, for example, the first two days we were there, a huge curtain was hung over the hallway directly to the right of the concierge lounge because that was where they were working, but the other hallways were open. By the time we left, that hallway was open, and the concierge staff said they were doing the sixth floor next.

The rooms are sorely in need of a renovation. We had the most disgusting room on the fifth floor. It had dark brown stains all over the carpet, the duvet was stained and ripped, and the furniture looked like someone had literally scraped the finish right off of it.

They are now working on the 5th floor. We were on the 4th and could hear the new carpets getting put in the room directly above. The new rooms look great. The flatscreen HDTV's a very welcome addition too.

We just returned last night & had a great experience. I had booked the cheapest rate that I found (2 queen beds for $179). I was going to ask for a king bed when I checked in. The lady at check-in said "We have you in a king bed on the 7th floor club level...is that OK?" I didn't even have to ask. I do have a Loews card but just the basic level. Our room number was 7048 and over looked the pool & Universal. We had access to the club lounge (free food & alcohol). The rooms were renovated...beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and I mean everyone. We will definitely return. I was wondering if they put us on the 7th floor because they were renovating the lower levels and we went at a off-peak time of year. Please don't let the negative reviews scare you. We are quite "hotel-picky" and loved it.

I wish I had known about the renovations before I stayed there last Sunday night. Bright and early (7am sharp) Monday morning the renovations on the floor above me woke me up. It literally sounded like the wall behind me was being hammered and drilled. They shouldn't book rooms that are so close to the construction. That having been said, the rooms are in serious need of renovation. It really is a beautiful hotel and it will be nice to stay there in one of the renovated rooms. For those checking in soon, I'd request a room away from the construction. When I was there, two wings of the third floor were being worked on.

We visited HRH this past week and were told renovations would be completed by the end of this month.
