Renovations at Disney's HH Resort

Does anyone know if the rooms in Hilton Head have been refurbished/updated in the last few years?

We loved the resort but when we last stayed there in 2007, the rooms were very "tired" looking and needed basic repairs, new linens and some paint.

We always go every Thanksgiving, and we just snuck another trip in a few months ago. There really hasn't been a noticeable change. Coincidently, we've gotten the same unit several times and have seen the same wall smudges, etc. But it just seems like normal wear and tear, the walls I'm talking about are very light. I think I read something here about a big rehab being planned in the near future, but I've only heard mention of it from one person on these boards.

Thanks for letting me know. We must have had a bad room - lose ceramic tiles, curtains drooping off the rod, stained comforter, peeling paint - not up to normal Disney standards.

We loved the laid back feel of the resort and the activities, but the room was lacking.

On another trip to HHI we stayed at the Marriott Grand Ocean and it was like night and day - an older resort but it had just been refurbished - new furniture, paint, granite counters etc. It helped that it was also on the ocean. Great kids activities. I would recommend it. But, being a Disney fan , we’d like to go back to the Disney resort!

We go to HH two or three times each year. While I've not seen a total rehab, each time we go it seems that there is regular maintenance / painting / refurbishment. There have been the new / redone sofas, TVs / dvd players, replacement of washer / dryer units, etc. I've seen what appears to be new shower liners, completely new caulking, toilet replacements, faucet replacements and new rockers on the porches.

Also, I've noticed more and more improvements in the grounds, more hammocks, better defining of play areas, horseshoe pits, rock replacement at the water edge, improvements where the kayaks are stored, more luggage carts, and more.

As a HH owner, I've been very pleased with the ongoing maintenance there compared to VB, BWV, and OKW.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that was the case. We are looking forward to returning to HHI.
